David Ian Forbes

David Ian Forbes has over two decades experience innovating, experimenting and implementing systems that leverage semantics, metadata, usability, information and interaction design, business process logic, and advertising and marketing techniques and methods.  His current company, Emantix, combines modern processing power, bandwidth and storage capacity to implement decades of linguistic research on a grand scale. Emantix's first product release was, a "how-to" search site that uses Emantix's statistical/semantic analytics engine to disambiguate polysemous words in search queries. Before Emantix, Dave was CEO and founder of Contextware, an award-winning software platform for managing knowledge. Among Dave's many innovations while at Contextware was a patented method that reinvented business process tools so that processes could be modeled and managed over the internet using simple web interfaces. Dave was also responsible for branding, product marketing and usability engineering for a Kodak digital asset technology spin off, and product management for the D. Appleton Company, an early leader in business process innovation. Dave has also worked in corporate marketing, for advertising agencies, and in film and video production. He holds a BA in Advertising from Drake University.
